Handbill flier for Dow Woods Unit of the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge. On October 15, 2011, Friends of Brazoria Wildlife Refuges, The Dow Chemical Company, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service hosted a Grand Opening Celebration at the Dow Woods Unit of San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge. Special guests included: --- Donald W. "Dude" Payne, Brazoria County Commissioner, District 1 --- Trey Cooksey, State Parks Trails, Coordinator, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department --- Wayne Muil, Site Maintenance, Leader, Dow Texas Operations --- Owen Brown, former owner of the land now occupied by the Dow Woods Unit. The celebration included: ---- A formal presentation led by Jennifer Sanchez, Project Leader for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Texas Mid-coast National Wildlife Refuge Complex, based in Brazoria, Texas. ---- Walking tours of trails conducted by volunteer docents from Friends of Brazoria Wildlife Refuges (based in Lake Jackson) and Texas Master Naturalist Cradle of Texas Chapter (based in Angleton). This event was open to the public at no charge. This handbill was distributed to attendees. |
