Description Tom Dearing of Phillips 66, Sweeny Plant, burns a brand from the Stringfellow Ranch onto a wall at BC Historical Museum. Museum Director Margaret Kelly watches. Stringfellow Ranch begun by William Joel Bryan, Stephen F. Austin's nephew, near Jones Creek in an area called Durazno ("Wild Peach" in Spanish). The symbol is C or "Rocking C" because the brand had to be rocked up and down. Photo by Leland Oritz in 1991.
